Examples of Computer Hardware

Computer hardware is a set of devices that are interlinked to get the tasks done by the computer. For computers to run, both hardware and software are required. The software is the automated programs that help us to communicate with the machine and get the results.

The motherboard is a word used in reference to a board that holds many computer hardware parts together. You can also read our article on top computer cleaning programs

CPU: Central Processing Unit is the brain of your computer system. It shows which generation your computer belongs to.

RAM: Random Access Memory is an internal memory that all the input and output functions make use of while dealing with the CPU.

The motherboard also holds chipset, BIOS (Basic Input Output System), and ROM (Read-Only Memory).

Power Supply Unit

PSU converts AC (Alternating Current) power to DC (Direct Current). It supplies this power to CPU, Hard disk, and cooling fan.

Data Storage Devices

Hard Disk: It can store data up to 1 TB (Terabytes). It is one of the devices that lasts long. Nowadays, you can also get detachable hard disks in the market.

Flash Drive: Sometimes known as a pen drive, the flash drive is a detachable and very handy storage device. Because of its size, which is not more than the length of your finger, flash drives are very useful when it comes to storing and transferring a small amount of data.

Memory Card: Nowadays, with the advent of mobile phones, the use of memory cards have become imperative. They are the smallest in size and can store data up to 8 GB to 16 GB (Gigabytes). Computers have inbuilt devices called card readers that can read and write the data on memory cards.

CD/DVD (Compact Disk/Digital Video Disk): These are other modes of saving data that is cheap and easy. They are re-writable devices, which means the data can be erased and written again on them. Popular media output, such as movies and music albums, come in these forms.

Magnetic Tape: They are used very rarely and make use of magnetic properties to store the data.

Input Devices

Input devices allow us to feed instructions in a computer. We give instructions to the computer to get the desired result or an output.

Keyboards: They are used to enter text and numbers. It also has other functions that enable us to manipulate data efficiently.

Mouse: It is a pointer device that is used to point at graphical icons or images, for selection and manipulation. With the advent of graphical user interfaces, mouse devices have become inseparable from the computer system.

Output Devices

Output devices are the means of getting desired results in various formats.

Monitor: It is the most important device that generates a video output.

Printer: It is an output device that allows us to take a print of the text and the images from our computer on a paper.

Speakers: They generate audio output.

Every year, the number of devices increases to match the innovation in the software industry
